Linh Do
Director of the Wattle Fellowship
University of Melbourne

Linh Do

Linh Do is passionate about climate justice and social inequality. She’s spent the last decade working across advocacy and engagement, media and social enterprise. Linh is the director of the Wattle Fellowship at the University of Melbourne, the head of campaign networks at Climate Catalyst and a board member at Climate Action Network Australia.

In the lead up to the Paris negotiations, she served as the publisher and editor-in-chief of The Verb. There she worked with a global team to localise and humanise stories from the UN climate change negotiations. Linh was most recently Australia and Pacific lead for The Climate Reality Project, Al Gore’s climate change leadership program, and brought over 800 people together in Brisbane during Climate Week Queensland.

Linh has worked with a wide array of individuals from high school students to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the Reuters Foundation. She is a co-founder of the technology start-up OurSay, formerly led the community organising program at the Australian Conservation Foundation and has worked with World Wildlife Fund (WWF) on communicating policy.

Her work has been featured in Al Jazeera, Vogue, the Huffington Post and the Washington Post amongst others. She is based in Melbourne having led a more peripatetic life pre-COVID!

Barbara Albert

Barbara Albert

Barbara is the Co-CEO of 100% Renewables, a consultancy specialised in developing net-zero pathways. Barbara is a speaker, podcast host of ‘Driving Net Profit with Zero Emissions’ and award-winning author of the book ‘Energy Unlimited’.

She is passionate about business and sustainability and believes that reaching net-zero emissions is achievable and profitable when done right.

Barbara holds a master’s degree in commerce from the University for Business Administration and Economics in Vienna and studied at New York University’s Stern School of Business.

Dr Emma Shortis
Research Fellow, EU Centre
RMIT University

Dr Emma Shortis

Emma is Research Fellow at the European Union Centre of Excellence in the School of Global, Urban and Social Studies at RMIT University. A historian by training, Emma’s research interests include global environmental governance, environmental history and diplomacy, and the relationship between history and climate change adaptation and mitigation.

In 2017-18, Emma was a Fox-Zucker International Fellow at Yale University. Her first book, Our Exceptional Friend: Australia’s fatal alliance with the United States, was published in August 2021 by Hardie Grant Books.

Joshua Gilbert
Worimi man, farmer and academic
Charles Sturt University

Joshua Gilbert

Joshua is a Worimi man, farmer and academic, who shares the narration of Indigenous identity through agricultural truths in light of modern contexts.

Josh’s work seeks to connect traditional Aboriginal knowledge and history to current contexts, translating past wisdom and learning to future opportunities. His work combines the old and the new, weaving them together to develop new insights and findings.

He is undertaking higher degree research at Charles Sturt University, is the Indigenous Co-Chair of Reconciliation NSW and was recently recognised within the world’s top 50 young gastronomers.

He is an entrepreneur and business advisor, working predominantly in the Aboriginal cultural, agricultural and environmental spheres. He has worked with numerous of not for profits, businesses and the government to develop change and bring people on a journey of change.

Josh pursues transformation through modern truth-telling, bringing new concepts to the forefront through acknowledgement of the past.

Nidala Barker
Musician, activist and
descendant of the Djugun people

Nidala Barker

Driven by her relentless hope in humanity, NIDALA’s work dedicates itself to creating reconciliation; of ourselves with our emotions, of our daily lives with our natural environments, and of Indigenous wisdom with innovative ideas. Wether it be through her music or her workshops, she reminds us of our belonging in this world, and helps us to step bravely into our shared responsibility to protect it. Born of the Aboriginal Djugun [ju-g-oon] people of the Kimberley, her words are anthem for open hearts and raised fists.

Formally, she hold a Master’s of Sustainability from the University of Sydney carried by her time in the jungles of northern Colombia and urban farms in Sydney, as well as a double degree in Public Policy and Social Justice Law from Macquarie University. She has worked with organisations like the Big Issue and Greenpeace, as well as in farming cooperatives and nature mentoring programs.

Musically, she self-produced and self-released her first single ‘Howl at the Moon‘ in late 2019, and in 2021 produced a fundraising carbon neutral EP named ‘Colours of my People’ featured in publications such as Rolling Stones and the ABC.

She has appeared on numerous podcasts including Wardrobe Crisis, It takes courage to tell the truth, and Let’s Talk Peaches ; participated to a range of panels for organisation such as Green Music Australia, Yes&, Better Futures and Xyntheo’s Leadership Vanguard; and has written for a diverse range of publications such as The Ethical Unicorn and Ethical Made Easy.

Sara Rickards

Sara Rickards

Sara Rickards is a peer reviewed author, keynote speaker and impact analyst in sustainability, eco-footprinting, design, transformative education and systems change. She is an environmental engineer and biomedical scientist, who has spent over a decade working in the sustainability sector.

Sara’s previous experience incorporates Chief Analyst for The Footprint Company, Sustainability Manager at Macquarie University, TEDx speaker, Co-host for the Un-School of Disruptive Design, Program Manager and Coach for The Centre of Sustainability Leadership and Associate Editor of the International Journal of Sustainability in Higher Education. She now has a growing Portfolio Career as a consultant working on projects across sectors both nationally and internationally.

Sara is an award-winning sustainability champion – with a knack for creating viral campaigns. She considers herself “a Regenerative Designer working with – and for – our shared mum”.
