The Australian Directors of ACTS, and our staff, support a constitutionally enshrined Voice to Parliament.
In the upcoming national referendum, the Australian people will vote yes or no to enshrine in The Constitution of Australia an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice to parliament and government. The Board’s resolution reflects the significant proportion of Australian members within our organisation, as well as ACTS’ values and strategy, which includes listening to, learning from and amplifying indigenous culture and wisdom. They recognise the Voice as an important step to enhancing cultural learning and an historic opportunity for allyship and self-learning.
With respect that there are differing opinions, we encourage members within our community to engage in respectful discussion and debate. We also acknowledge the additional cultural load that Indigenous Australians may bear during this parliamentary process.
We eagerly anticipate a positive outcome from the referendum, representing a significant step forward to realising The Uluru Statement from the Heart.
