ACTS is seeking expressions of interest for a dedicated individual to take on the role of Secretary, a vital non-director position that will support the board’s continued success by ensuring the efficient administration and governance of the organisation.

ACTS is seeking an organised and detail-oriented individual to join us as our Secretary! This voluntary non-board role is perfect for someone passionate about sustainability who wants to support our mission by ensuring smooth governance and administration.

Residence Requirement: The Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) stipulates that the secretary must have their principal place of residence in Australia.

Role overview

As the ACTS Secretary, you’ll be responsible for key administrative duties that ensure the efficient functioning of our Board. Supported with existing templates, processes and online tools, you will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating and preparing agendas, minutes, and reports for board meetings.

  • Assisting with board communication and documentation.

  • Maintaining important records and ensuring compliance with governance requirements, including ACNC and ASIC filings.

  • Supporting the smooth running of board meetings and the Annual General Meeting (AGM).

  • Providing administrative support to the executive committee.

Expected time commitment:

  • Approximately 4–6 hours per month.

  • Attendance at monthly virtual board and executive committee meetings.

  • Supporting the AGM and other key governance activities.

Key skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

  • Previous experience in a governance or administrative role (preferred but not required).

  • Familiarity with nonprofit or charity governance is a plus.

  • Passion for sustainability and supporting an impactful organisation.
