Higher education has changed dramatically since we closed our call for proposals in early March. A global pandemic has led to major changes in how campuses operate, with significant implications for sustainability. Similarly, the widespread protests against racism sparked by the murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and many others has caused institutions to more closely examine the ways in which they perpetuate white supremacy. To ensure that the content at the Global Conference on Sustainability in Higher Education (GCSHE) reflects these developments, AASHE is hosting this supplementary Emerging Issues Call for Proposals.

Submission period closes on August 14.

Over the years EAUC has been at the forefront of incredible global initiatives by inspiring, celebrating and advancing the critical role that education has in delivering the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the SDG Accord and the International Green Gown Awards. More recently, we have inspired institutions and networks across the globe to respond to the ever-growing challenges of climate crisis brings to the wider society by becoming signatories of the Global Climate Letter.
 
EAUC is now going a step forward through The Global Climate Conference in Education which aims to bring together these leading institutions to learn and inspire to create a bigger international movement in the education sector. Educational leaders, academics, professionals, and students heavily involved in these initiatives will have the opportunity to:

• Build networks with like-minded sustainability professionals from around the world
• Step up and become a front runner in finding a solution to the climate crisis
• Update your knowledge by interacting with field experts
• Limit the impact of the climate crisis by adapting sustainability initiatives implemented by the global sustainability sector
• Hear and be part of the debates that will have global sustainability leaders on the spotlight
• Be at the forefront of the discussions in lead up to the UN Climate Change Summit COP26 2021.
